{"id":161164,"date":"2025-10-28T08:55:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T08:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hnsecurity.it\/?p=161164"},"modified":"2025-10-28T14:17:36","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T14:17:36","slug":"brida-0-6-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hnsecurity.it\/it\/blog\/brida-0-6-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Brida 0.6 released!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi!<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Ole Andr\u00e9 Vadla Ravn\u00e5s (<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/oleavr\">@oleavr<\/a>) &amp; his team made some <a href=\"https:\/\/frida.re\/news\/2025\/05\/17\/frida-17-0-0-released\/\">breaking changes<\/a> to their great <a href=\"https:\/\/frida.re\/\">Frida<\/a> <strong>dynamic instrumentation toolkit<\/strong>, removing Java, ObjC, and Swift runtime bridges from Frida\u2019s GumJS runtime and removing or refactoring many JS APIs used by most Frida-based tools (like <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/federicodotta\/Brida\">Brida<\/a>). Consequently, many functionalities of Brida broke and required some <strong>changes to work properly with the latest Frida versions<\/strong>. I just released a <strong>new version of Brida (0.6)<\/strong> that is fully compatible with the latest versions of <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/frida\/frida\/releases\/tag\/17.3.2\">Frida<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/frida\/frida-compile\">frida-compile<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As a downside, starting with version 0.6, Brida will not be compatible with older Frida versions (&lt;17). Unfortunately, as anyone who has worked with Frida on physical Android or iOS devices likely knows, it often happens that a specific version of Frida doesn\u2019t work on a particular device, and in such situations an older Frida version could be useful. For such scenarios, I will leave version 0.6pre of Brida available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/federicodotta\/Brida\/releases\">Releases section of the GitHub repository<\/a>. This version works with frida-compile@10.2.5 and frida&lt;17.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve submitted the new Brida release to the <a href=\"https:\/\/portswigger.net\/burp\">Burp Suite<\/a> team so that it can be updated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/portswigger.net\/bappstore\">BApp Store<\/a>, but the approval process usually takes some time. In the meantime, you can download the release from the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/federicodotta\/Brida\/releases\">Releases section of the GitHub repository<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights on the <strong>updates brought by the last Brida version<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Major JS code refactor<\/strong> to reflect changes in frida &gt;= 17 (17.3.2 at the time of the release).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fixed compatibility with the last frida-compile<\/strong> versions (19.0.4 at the time of the release).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kill server fixed<\/strong> to work with the last Java versions.<\/li>\n<li>Added &#8220;Host:Port&#8221; and &#8220;DeviceId&#8221; Frida connection modes.<\/li>\n<li>Added JS bypass for OkHttpHostname Verified.<\/li>\n<li>Added Gradle build configuration file.<\/li>\n<li>Improved Android root detection script.<\/li>\n<li>Many bugfixes.<\/li>\n<li>Wiki updated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, some direct links:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/federicodotta\/Brida\">Brida GitHub repository<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/federicodotta\/Brida\/releases\/tag\/v0.6\">Brida 0.6 release<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/federicodotta\/Brida\/wiki\">Brida Wiki<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/portswigger.net\/bappstore\/2c0def96c5d44e159151b236de766892\">Brida on Burp Suite BApp Store<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cheers!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi!
